But I have had several Lexus service technicians and members of this board tell me that the newer design is much more reliable and will last a very long time, much longer than the setup on the old LS400s.

I'd recommend testing a lower trim with no moonroof. Also, look at a Lexus GX 460 - that has a lot more power and more headroom inside. Both the Lexus and 4Runner are build in Japan and will far outlast the Pilot and will probably outlast the Highlander. The cargo with the 3 row 4Runner and the GX is pretty much non-existant.
